“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”
Nicola is a well-known and highly respected Senior Associate, experienced in representing parents, local authorities, grandparents and children in a wide range of Public Law cases, including adoption matters. Her experience ranges from cases involving elements of emotional, physical and sexual abuse to those involving brain injuries where there are concerns that the child may have been shaken, as well as infantile death due to possible non-accidental injuries.
Nicola has advised and represented parents with learning disabilities and mental health difficulties both directly and through the Official Solicitor. She has developed a wide practice dealing with cases with international elements within the European Union and beyond, for example, the transfer of cases within the EU, and radicalisation issues involving the removal of children to Syria. In one such case the High Court Judge used an emoji, in his official Judgment, to help children understand the family law.
She has experience in private law cases including complex and intractable contact disputes, some of which have involved international elements. She also has experience in TOLATA matters and is a member of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme and Manchester and Liverpool Law Society.
