Kay has more than a decade’s experience in dealing with Family Law cases, predominately representing local authorities in care proceedings.
Her legal career began when working part-time at a local law firm when studying Law. After leaving college, Kay joined Stephensons Solicitors in the family department as an admin assistant where she quickly progressed to paralegal, fee earner and then became an Executive at the same time as studying part time for her CILEX qualification. During this time, she worked predominantly on child protection matters, focusing on both private and public law cases.
Kay joined McAlister Family Law in September 2018. She has extensive experience in all aspects family law work, including contact disputes and child arrangement orders, discharge of care proceedings, adoption, special guardianship orders and private family work including divorce, related children matters and protection from domestic violence.
Kay now manages a case load of public law matters, dealing with cases on behalf of local authorities (both pre-proceedings and care proceedings) and on behalf of parents. She has worked on a number of complex family matters including cases involving non-accidental Injuries and high level CSE.
Kay adopts a straightforward and pragmatic approach but is always mindful of the need to handle family law matters sensitively. She is a firm believer in putting children first in any case and getting the best outcome for them. Kay says “I love knowing that each day I am making a difference”.
Kay has a keen eye for detail and excellent organisation skills. She is known for remaining very calm under pressure.
